School and College Counseling
It is the mission of the Office of School and College Counseling to assist students and parents with academic counselling, personal counseling, and college/career planning. The School Counseling department is a valuable resource and advocate in working with students, teachers, and parents. The counselor is able to provide a tremendous amount of one-on-one support for college and career planning due to the small class sizes. Each student is able to develop a unique set of goals applicable to them. The Director of School & College Counseling personally guides students and parents through the course selection and scheduling as well as the college exploration and planning process. Through the use of parent/student meetings, college fair opportunities, college representative sessions, newsletters and individual appointments, the School Counseling Department offers a variety of resources for students and families during their high school career.
Students and parents may also want to discuss personal, developmental, or social matters with a concerned adult. The Director of School & College Counseling performs this role by providing a forum for brainstorming, exploring options, mediation, or sympathetic listening. When appropriate or requested, the counselor will identify suitable community resources for further assistance.
Except for emergencies, students are expected to make an appointment to meet with the Director of School & College Counseling. Students are responsible for notifying their teachers in advance of appointments.
High school transcripts and official records are provided through the School Counseling Office upon completion of the Transcript Request Form.
