Clubs & Activities at SSPP
Active participation and leadership in a diverse array of student life experiences contribute to the overall development of young people. Sports, clubs, leadership, service, and spiritual formation activities give each young person the opportunity to get involved, to grow intellectually and spiritually, to work with others in common purpose, and to gain a greater appreciation for what life has to offer. This is still an integral part of our mission!
At Saints Peter & Paul High School, there are 19 athletic teams, 30 student clubs and societies, and other leadership opportunities to spark your interest, share your talents, and get you involved in Sabre life.
Academic Quiz Bowl Club
This club is open to any student who had a love of facts, knowledge, and trivia across a wide range of topics – academic subjects, the arts, popular culture and sports. It is a great way to broaden horizons and foster healthy competition.

Ace Mentor Program
The ACE Mentor Program introduces students to architecture, construction and engineering and the career opportunities open to them in these fields. Students are mentored by industry professionals while they work as part of a team to design a project of their choice that incorporates all aspects of architecture, construction and engineering. College scholarships are awarded yearly. ACE is highly recommended for students interested in design, engineering and/or construction fields.

Catholic Apologetics Group
Catholic Apologetics is the use of logic, reason, and philosophy to understand and defend the churches teachings. With the aid of Catechism and each each other, the goal is to both better understand Catholic faith and become prepared to defend it in the battle of ideas. The group’s discussions will be in two categories, Big Ideas and Apologetics Today – the reading and discussing of major principles in apologetics and the Catholic Faith, and Apologetics Today when we look at specific issues in the news or in our lives and see how it applies to Catholic teaching. This group is recommended for those who either love their faith and want the tools necessary to defend it, or people who want a better understanding of why the church teaches what it does. All are welcome.

Chess+ Club
What’s the + for? Tabletop games of all varieties: board games, card, games, casual games, complex games, competitive games, cooperative games, strategy, games, joke, games, and more. Mentors and members propose games and anyone interested may participate. Whether they’re interested in chess or want to play a new game, you will have a chance to play in the Chess+ Club!

Choir Club
The Choir Club will engage interested and committed students who would like to begin involvement or continue their involvement in the SSPP School Choir. Students will practice songs for events like prayer services, school events, and the Christmas Concert. If you are interested in the performing arts, sining and/or playing an instrument, think about getting involved!

Class Council
Open to elected Class Officers and other students interested in planning and organizing class activities. Students on Class Council are also automatic members of the Student Government Association. Class Officers are required to attend Class Council and SGA Meetings. Officers must be able to participate in all necessary school and or weekend activities.

Debate Club
The purpose of the SSPP Debate Club is to give students the opportunity to debate current issues of local, state, national and international importance; to improve both oral and research skills and to learn and use the elements of formal debate.

Ducks Unlimited Club
For anyone interested in exploring Ducks Unlimited (DU), a conservation organization focused on the preservation, restoration, and management of wetlands and associated habitats for North American waterfowl. DU’s mission also benefits other wildlife and people, with the ultimate goal of ensuring healthy wetlands for waterfowl populations today and in the future.

East Asian Cultural Diversity Club
For anyone interested in exploring different East Asian cultures, i.e. Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean, and Japanese, including customs, language, holidays, traditions, etc. Activities will include: learning how to speak, write and understand different languages (Chinese and Korean), participating in East Asian Holiday celebrations, trying new types or cuisines, and other activities.

Environmental Awareness Club
This club is meant to increase awareness of environmental issues and work to improve our school, local and global environment. Students may participate in ecological field experiences and will be responsible for the school recycling program.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Since 1954, FCA has been challenging coaches and athletes to use the powerful platform of sport to reach every coach and every athlete with the transforming power of Jesus Christ. FCA focuses on serving local communities around the globe by engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to unite, inspire and change the world through the gospel.

Guitar Club
The Guitar Club provides a welcoming space for guitar enthusiasts of all skill levels to learn, play, and connect with others who share a passion for the instrument. Members can expect to jam together, learn new techniques, and explore various musical styles in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Honor Guard
For students interested in serving as an honor guard in the lowering and raising of the flags on campus. Students will also assist in the planning and execution of the Veterans’ Day Prayer Service.

Key Club
Key Club is an internationally recognized organization devoted to the service of others. Students will develop initiative and leadership skills while serving their school and community as they engage in organizing and implementing service activities for their school and local communities. Members are required to participate in service activities. Students will be required to complete 50 hours of service yearly.

Mission Team
Students engage in periodic community service projects and in a summer extended project. Working with other student members of the parish, students must commit to participating in a summer mission trip and various organization fundraising and awareness raising activities during the spring.

Morgan’s Message
Morgan’s Message supports motivated students in becoming active leaders and advocates of student-athlete mental health on our campus and in our community. This club strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community and equalize the treatment of physical and mental health in athletics.

Outdoor Adventure and Wilderness Club
The Outdoor Adventure and Wilderness Club provides students opportunities to learn outside the classroom in an environment that will instill love and appreciation for the outdoors, challenge their physical and mental abilities, and increase their spiritual awareness of the presence of God. Activities will include day or overnight experiences, including hiking, camping and fishing in Maryland or Virginia.

Performing Arts Club
The Performing Arts Club will engage interested and committed students, faculty, and parents in mapping various artistic opportunities for our students, including the annual school production. If you are interested in the performing arts, think about getting involved.

Philosophy Club
This club is for students who are curious and devoted to collaborative discussion and inquiry. Through close engagement with the works of some of the world’s greatest writers and thinkers – Plato, Aristotle, Euclid, Locke, Decartes, Nietzsche, Freud and Einstein – club members will grapple with fundamental questions that confront us as human beings.

Ping Pong & Pickleball
Students have the opportunity to play pink pong during lunch. Students can plan and participate in tournament play for prizes. Students can also potentially participate in an annual Pickleball Tournament.

Prom/Post Prom Committee
Students will work with a parent group in the planning and organization of the Prom and Post Prom, including location, themes, activities, decorations, and other arrangements. Open only to freshman, sophomores and juniors.

Psychology, Neuroscience, and Pre-Professional Society (Psychology Club)
The Psychology, Neuroscience, and Pre-Professional Society is an academic and service organization that fosters awareness in the aforementioned fields, prepares students for a greater level of intellectual and interpersonal understanding, and mentors students via lifelong education and personal development. For anyone interested in learning more about various topics in neuroscience and psychology and/or anyone thinking about majoring in those or related fields in college.

Respect Life Group
The Respect Life Group seeks to educate our school and community about the dignity of human life an the value of alternative options to abortion. We firmly believe that all life should be given the chance to. live, regardless of situation. The group will participate in conferences and local, state and national advocacy events (i.e., Choices, Maryland March for Life, March for Life in DC, Easton March).

Rosary Club
The Rosary Club is dedicated to praying the Rosary for students, faculty, and community. Prayerful intentions promote the blessings of the Rosary. All are welcome to attend.

Run Club

Sabre Ambassadors
Interested and enthusiastic students who wish to serve as school ambassadors to the greater school, parish, and local community. Sabres Ambassadors represent their school at a variety of school, parish, and local community events, serve as guides for visitors and shadowing guests, and as a point of contact for anyone in the greater community seeking more information about Saints Peter & Paul School.

Student Government Association (SGA)
The SGA is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading student activities, including Spirit Week, dances, pep rallies, and other school events; developing and fostering activities of service and spirit that build the school community. The SGA is composed of all elected Student Government Officers, Class Officers, and appointed representatives.

Sons of Liberty
The Sons of Liberty provides a respectful and intellectually stimulating environment for students who are interested in conservative principles such as limited government, free enterprise, personal responsibility, and traditional values. Our mission is to engage members in thoughtful discussion about current events, public policy and the political landscape – both domestic and international – while promoting civic awareness and leadership.

Timshel
Timshel is a literary and art magazine that welcomes submissions from all students at Saints Peter & Paul High School. The magazine aims to support the humanities and fine arts by showcasing student work and provide its club members the opportunity to learn how to design and produce their own literary and arts magazine. Any student who is proud of their written or artistic work should consider submitting to Timshel, and students interested in publications, layout, and design are welcome to become part of the board of student editors and designers of this year’s volume.
