Field Hockey
Head Coach: Debbie McQuaid
A graduate of Salisbury State College she holds a Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in School Counseling from Salisbury University. In her years in education, she has served as teacher, coach, administrator, author and school counselor. A finalist for Maryland Teacher of the Year in 1992, she wrote, developed, and secured financing for the Talbot County Survival Swim Program. A program that provided water safety skills to all 3rd graders in Talbot County.
In her 30 plus years of coaching field hockey she has helped numerous of her players move on to play collegiately at Division 1, 2 and 3 levels. She was named the ESIAC Fall Coach of the Year in 2024 and her Sabres have won the ESIAC Conference 4 out of the last five years. In addition to coaching at the high school level she created the first travel field hockey team on the Eastern Shore back in 1997- Shore Field Hockey.
She is a member of the Maryland High School Coaches Association, National Field Hockey Association and US Field Hockey Coaches Association.
Assistant Coach: Missy Cannon
Coach Cannon is a native of the Eastern Shore of Maryland and a graduate of St. Michaels High School. She was a 4-year varsity player in high school, earning 1st Team Bayside honors her sophomore and junior years, and Player of the Year for the Bayside senior year. Coach also played for Debbie McQuaid and Susan Pusey for Shore Team and was selected for Team Maryland after attending tryouts. Missy attended Delaware Valley College in Pennsylvania to pursue Equine Science and Agribusiness. At Del Val she was the starting goalie her freshman year. The summer after her freshman year her hockey career was cut short by a car accident.
Coach Cannon is entering her 15th year of coaching and currently serves as Assistant Coach at Sts. Peter & Paul High School. Coach also coaches field hockey for TC Shore . Prior to SSPP, she was the head varsity field hockey coach at St. Michaels for 9 years where she started her coaching career there as a goalie coach. During her time at SMHS, she helped establish the middle school team through the YMCA which feeds the high school program. Missy firmly believes in building youth programs to bring up the next generation of hockey players.
Volleyball
Head Coach: Rebekah Byrnes
Coach Rebekah Byrnes is entering her 16th year of coaching high school volleyball, 4th at Saints Peter and Paul.
Coach Byrnes began her coaching career at her high school alma mater (Northside Christian Academy, Charlotte, NC) in 2009 before moving on to coach at Cannon School (Concord, NC). After moving to Easton in late 2014, she saw a need for youth volleyball in the community. Since then she has been seeking ways to grow the game of volleyball in Talbot County. In 2016, Coach Byrnes joined the coaching staff at Easton High School. That same year, she started a spring youth program at the Easton Family YMCA as a feeder program for the local high school. In the summer of 2020, she took over the program at Talbot County Parks and Recreation, designed to prepare incoming freshman for tryouts at their respective high schools.
In addition to high school, Coach Byrnes has coached for several volleyball clubs in Easton, Kent Island, and Denton.
A 2-sport State Champion (long jump 1995,1996 and volleyball 1996) out of Northside Christian Academy (Charlotte, NC), Coach Byrnes competed in volleyball collegiately at Gardner-Webb University (Div.1 Boiling Springs, NC). She graduated with a BS in Sociology and Human Services.
Coach Byrnes lives in Easton with her husband Brian, 3 children, and dog Lulu.
Assistant Coach: Ryan Schneider
Coach Schneider has coached at the YMCA youth volleyball program for almost 10 years. He has coached at Chesapeake College for 1 year. Coached at SSPP since 2022.
Played volleyball with family since I was 13.
Co-founded the Crofton Volleyball Association (CVA) in 1994 which grew to host large grass doubles tournaments with over 25 nets playing.
Still play doubles volleyball in grass tournaments throughout the summer and indoor leagues all year round.
Married 24 years and have two kids – Samantha -18 and Lucas 16
Women's Soccer
Head Coach: Josh Plugge
Josh Plugge brings a lifelong dedication to athletics, mentorship, and community to his role as head coach of the Saints Peter & Paul girls varsity soccer team.
A former standout multi-sport athlete at the high school level with a primary focus on soccer, Josh continued his playing career at the collegiate level, where he developed a deeper understanding of the game and a strong appreciation for leadership and team culture.
Today, Josh is the owner of Beau Monde Elite Fitness, a thriving fitness studio in Easton, where he has spent the past decade helping individuals reach their full potential both physically and mentally. His impact on the local fitness community has made him a respected figure known for his high energy, commitment to excellence, and ability to inspire others.
Born and raised on the Eastern Shore, Josh is deeply rooted in the community and proud to be raising his two children—a 7-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son—right here at home. As a coach, father, and lifelong athlete, he’s passionate about creating an environment where young players can grow in confidence, skill, and character.
Josh is thrilled to step into this coaching role and looks forward to guiding his athletes on and off the field, building a culture of integrity, hard work, and a true love for the game.
Assistant Coach: Jacob Plugge
Jacob Plugge joins the Saints Peter & Paul girls varsity soccer program as an assistant coach, bringing a strong background in competitive athletics and a lifelong passion for the game. A 2017 graduate of St. Michaels High School, Jacob was a four-year varsity soccer player known for his work ethic, leadership, and competitive spirit.
Since graduating, Jacob has stayed highly active in both the gym and local adult sports leagues, continuing to demonstrate the same drive and team-oriented mindset that made him a standout player. Off the field, Jacob is a part-owner of Remarkable Kitchens in Easton, Maryland, and a valued team member at Nooks and Crannies Cleaning Service. His dedication to excellence in both his professional and athletic pursuits reflects his commitment to a winning attitude and helping others succeed.
Jacob is excited to return to the sidelines and share his knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm with the Saints girls varsity team.
Men's Soccer
Head Coach: Jeremy Troutman
Jeremey graduated from Geneva College where he was a 4-year starter on their men’s
soccer team and received multiple all-region & all-conference honors. After graduation,
he played semi-professionally in the Premier Development League for the New Jersey
Northeasterners before starting his career in secondary education. Jeremey was named
Head Coach for DuVal High School’s Men’s Varsity Soccer team in 2019, after serving
as the assistant coach in 2018. He helped lead the DuVal Tigers to district appearances
in both seasons. Jeremey currently lives in Easton with his wife and 3 children where he
teaches social studies at Easton Middle School.
Assistant Coach: Nik Robinson
Two-year starter at Towson University (1991-93), winning the East Coast Conference Championship his freshman year (NCAA D 1).
After college, he played for two years in the USL D3 pro league for the Eastern Shore Sharks (1998-99).
He was selected to play for the Maryland Mania in 1999, playing in the A-League for the remainder of the 1999 season.
Earned his United States Soccer Federation C coaching license in 1995.
Coached numerous club and school teams, including MSYSA regional ODP teams, Cambridge South Dorchester High School, SSPP Middle School, SSPP High School, and local EDP club team Shore FC, 2009 age group.
He returned to university, earning his BA in history from Salisbury University in 2002.
He was awarded a graduate school fellowship to study history at Tulane University, where he earned his PhD in 2007.
He is an associate professor of history at Delaware State University.
Lives in Cambridge, Maryland, married to Carey Willey with two children, Leila Robinson (SSPP class of 2021) and Graham Robinson (SSPP, class of 2027).
Assistant Coach: Troy Johns
Sailing - Fall
Head Coach: Robin Cooper
Robin Cooper has coached the Saints Peter & Paul sailing team for over ten years. She sailed on a nationally ranked high school team at Severn School and for the Tred Avon Yacht Club. Robin sailed at St. Mary’s College which was consistently ranked in the top 5 in the nation for her career. She sailed Lasers, 420s and FJs during her time sailing for the Seahawks.
Robin has coached 420’s and Optimists at Tred Avon Yacht club. She also was the head coach at Columbia University for 2 years when in graduate school. She personally has sailed Lasers and J-22’s on the National circuit. Robin has helped build Saints Peter & Paul students into students with successful college sailing careers. Some students who have never sailed before have been recruited by colleges and even become All Americans.
Men's Basketball
Head Coach: Gary Gould
Coach Gould has coached at Saints Peter & Paul for nine years. He has five MIAA Championship appearances (two as an assistant). He has won three MIAA Championships, most recently in the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
Coach Gould attended QA county High School Class of “85” where he is a Hall of Famer. Gould was a four-year, three sport lettermen in Football, Basketball, and Baseball. Coach Gould then attended West Liberty State university (86-89) where he was a four-year Basketball player. At West Liberty he had 1500 points scored, a career three-point average of 42.6%, and is the all-time leading scorer in the 80’s.
Coach Gould lives in Queenstown, MD and has three kids and a granddaughter. He is the co-owner of Team Peake Inc.
Head JV Coach: Zion Chase
Coach Chase graduated at Indian Creek Upper School (4 Year Varsity player) earned all county Honorable Mention the last 2 years and made 2nd team all conference (Senior year)! He attended and played Division 3 basketball at Keuka College in NY! Coach Chase started coaching at Saints Peter and Paul High School for the boys Jv basketball team in 2023 and lead them to their first playoff appearance and championship game in JV History. Coach also works at Sauer Compressors in Kent Island and is a major sports card collector and card show host in my free time!
Assistant Coach: William Miller
Coach William Miller is a Certified Personal Trainer with years of experience training individuals aged 5 – 85. He specializes in athletic development but is familiar with all aspects of fitness training from injury rehabilitation to weight loss and more.
When it comes to Basketball – Miller has coached on the Shore for over a decade; and coached ten 1,000 point scorers between two different schools. Miller was also assistant/strength and conditioning coach at Chesapeake college for two seasons before coming back to the bayside conference to coach again.
Coach Miller has joined Wootten Camp, Five Star Basketball Camp In Alaska, Nike Sheryl Swoopes Camp in Houston Texas , Project X-Posure – The Overseas Experience in Rome Italy.
Assistant Coach: Aaron Jones
Aaron is a graduate of Queen Annes County High School Class of 1991. Where he lettered in both Basketball and Baseball. Aaron was selected to the 2nd team All Bayside. After Graduation Aaron attended Chesapeake College and played on the Basketball and Baseball teams from 1992-1995. Aaron was selected as a Honorable Mention for Maryland JUCO Region 20. Aaron has been coaching youth sports for over 30 years. Aaron joined the SSPP Basketball staff in 2019 to the present. Aaron resides in Denton MD with his wife Missy and there granddaughter Trinity.

Women's Basketball
Head Coach: Katie Murphy
Coach Katie Murphy has been a dedicated coach at Saints Peter & Paul School for the past 14 years. She began her coaching journey with the goal of helping to build a strong and competitive basketball program—starting with the middle school level and eventually advancing to the high school team in 2020.
A firm believer in the connection between academics and athletics, Coach Katie emphasizes that sports not only develop physical skills, but also foster critical thinking, mental toughness, and—most importantly—a strong sense of community and teamwork. She sees athletics as a powerful way to keep students engaged and proud of their school.
In addition to basketball, Coach Katie has also contributed her time and talents to coaching middle school lacrosse at SSPP. Her diverse coaching background extends beyond the school as well—since moving to the Eastern Shore in 2006, she has coached indoor and outdoor soccer, lacrosse, and basketball in various programs and counties.
Originally from western Pennsylvania, Coach Katie was a multi-sport athlete throughout her youth, with basketball being her personal favorite. After a successful high school athletic career, she chose to focus on her academics while continuing to enjoy basketball recreationally in college. During that time, she also became a basketball official and began coaching young players, turning her love of the game into a lifelong passion.
Off the court, Coach Katie works as an accountant. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children and loves nothing more than a relaxing day at the beach.
Assistant Coach: Sarah Krocheski
Coach Sarah Krocheski is entering her third year as the assistant coach for the high school
women’s basketball team at Saints Peter & Paul School. A proud Saints Peter & Paul alumna,
Coach Sarah brings her passion full circle, having played under Coach Katie Murphy during
both her middle and high school years.
Dedicated to building strong athletes both on and off the court, Coach Sarah believes that being
an athlete means holding yourself to a higher standard—and that it’s the responsibility of
coaches to help develop the skills, discipline, and mindset to do just that. She emphasizes
personal growth, accountability, and teamwork in all aspects of her coaching.
In addition to basketball, Coach Sarah has coached both high school and middle school
lacrosse at SSPP. Her love for coaching and mentorship continues to grow alongside her
academic pursuits—she recently graduated from Chesapeake College and is now continuing
her education in psychology at the University of Maryland Global Campus.
Off the court, Coach Sarah enjoys watching all kinds of sports, cooking, and spending quality
time with her amazing family.
Swimming
Head Coach: Kristina Henry
Kristina has lived in Easton since 1993. The Virginia native is an alumna of Washington College in Chestertown. She is a United States Masters swimmer and ALTS instructor with USMS. She is also freelance writer. Her work has appeared in The Kansas City Star, The Washington Post, Washingtonian magazine, Food52, Edible Delmarva, and USMS Swimmer magazine.
Ice Hockey
Head Coach: Sam Gerdano
Coach Gerdano is in his fifth season leading the Sabres Hockey program. In 2023 he earned MIAA Coach of the Year honors. Prior to Saints Peter & Paul, he was head coach at Gonzaga College HS (DC), leading the Eagles to two MAPHL titles in three seasons, a Washington Post #1 final ranking in 2019, and earning the Ervin J. Terwilliger Coach of the Year award in 2018. Coach Gerdano is a native of Falls Church, VA and grew up playing for the Ashburn Xtreme and Northern Virginia Ice Dogs youth travel clubs. As a high schooler he attended Gonzaga and played three years of Varsity hockey, and as a senior, helped to lead the #1 ranked Eagles to the MAPHL title in 2010. Coach Gerdano is a 2014 graduate of Syracuse University where he majored in Information Management and Technology and played three years for the SU Men’s Hockey team (ACHA Division 1). In addition to coaching with the Sabres, Coach Gerdano is a member of the SSPP faculty teaching Computer Science, and is the Hockey Director for the Easton Icehawks youth travel hockey program. He lives in St. Michaels.
Assistant Coach: Mike Watson
Coach Mike Watson has been playing and or coaching ice hockey since 1983. Mike played youth hockey for multiple clubs in both the CBHL and DVHL. Mike started coaching youth sports in 1999 and has coached ice hockey for the Easton Icehawks for the last 10 seasons (8U-18U), and holds a level 4 USA hockey coaching certification. Outside the rink, Coach Mike enjoys spending time with his wife, Jessica and two boys Tyler ’24 and Drew ’26, working on the family farm and enjoying the Eastern Shore outdoors.
Assistant Coach: Jeremey Melbye
Coach Jeremy Melbye grew up in California playing AAA in the California Wave program. He played his prep hockey at Gilmour Academy in Northeast Ohio where he was a two year captain. He played Junior A in Canada (CJHL) before playing college hockey at Kent State University where he was an All-American and Alternate on Team USA for the Goodwill Games. He led the nation in scoring as a defenseman. He’s coached at USA Hockey regional camps and for the Jr Rangers. He and his wife Juliana have four young children.
Baseball
Head Coach: Michael Mayer
Coach Mayer brings extensive baseball knowledge and years of experience both on and off the field to SSPP!
A former collegiate baseball player in Cincinnati, OH, he had 2 NCAA Division 3 tournament appearances. Coach Mayer continued his baseball career playing 2 years professionally after college and is a certified baseball scout.
Coach Mayer is passionate about player and character development and has coached at both the high school and collegiate levels.
Assistant Coach: Jason Thomas
Jason is from LaVale, Maryland and has 16 years of teaching experience. Currently a teacher at our Middle School. Jason loves SSPP. Along with baseball, Jason has experience coaching softball, wrestling, football, and boxing at the high school level.
Assistant Coach: Nick Perisco
Nick is an SSPP alum (Class of 2006) and played on the Sabres baseball team all four years as a pitcher and outfielder. He now works remotely for a software company and lives in the area with his wife, Kelleigh (also SSPP Class of 2006), their daughter, Marina, and two dogs, Cooper and Goose. The family recently moved back to the Eastern Shore from Charlotte, NC, and look forward to being active members of the SSPP community and cheering on the Sabres for many years to come.
Golf
Head Coach: Tony Del Puppo
Tony grew up on the Eastern Shore and went to Queen Anne’s County High School, where he also played for the Varsity Golf Team. From 2012 to 2020, he was the Head Coach of the John Carroll School Golf Team. After moving back to the Eastern Shore in 2021 to be a teacher at Saints Peter and Paul High School, Tony also became Head Coach of Sabres Golf.

Men's Lacrosse
Head Coach: Freddie Wolters
Coach Wolters is entering his 26th year coaching lacrosse at SSPP and is entering his 34th year coaching lacrosse overall. He started in the fall of 1991 as the defensive coordinator at Cortland State University in New York and spent two years there. In the fall of 1993, Wolters became the defensive coordinator at Catonsville Community College in Maryland. He spent six years there before coming to SSPP in 2000.
Coach is a 1987 graduate of Mt. St. Joseph’s high school in Baltimore and a 1991 graduate of Cortland State. He has a son Hank and daughter Reagan that attend SSPP. Wolters has just been inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame as well as being the 2025 Men’s Lacrosse “MIAA-Coach of the year.”
Assistant Coach: Richard Grieves
Casey was born and raised on the Eastern Shore. After graduating from SSPP in 2014, he went on to play Division I lacrosse at Hobart College for two years before finishing his collegiate playing career at Washington College. He was honored with the Senior Athletic Award at both SSPP and Washington College and holds multiple scoring and points records.
After college, Casey chose to remain on the Shore to build a career and start a family. He lives in Easton with his wife and son, and they are expecting a daughter in mid-August. He manages his own insurance office in Easton for MDP Insurance, a Baltimore-based firm that has been serving clients since 1875.
For the past three years, Casey has served as the assistant offensive coach for the SSPP lacrosse team. A proud alumnus, he takes great pride in being a role model for student-athletes and hopes to inspire the next generation to become the best version of themselves. As a member of SSPP’s lacrosse “three-peat” championship teams in 2012, 2013, and 2014, Casey knows what it takes to win at the next level and is committed to bringing that same level of talent and determination back to the Shore for our student athletes.
Assistant Coach: Josh Patterson
Josh graduated from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland where he played four years on the Men’s Lacrosse Team and earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. This will be his second season coaching for SSPP. Josh currently resides in Easton, Maryland with his girlfriend and works as a Program Analyst for the Federal Government.

Women's Lacrosse
Head Coach: Abby Burke
Abby Burke started playing lacrosse in fifth grade and has loved it ever since. In high school Abby played for St. Mary’s Ryken in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference. She played midfield on varsity for 4 years. Abby also played on the Jets, a club team in St. Mary’s county. After high school Abby was recruited to play at Wingate University and was a 4 year starter. Prior to her role as Head Coach, Abby was the assistant coach for Saint Peter and Paul middle school and assistant for 2027/2028 Dark Horse team.
Assistant Coach: Lexi McDaniel
Lexi McDaniel is an Eastern Shore native, born and raised in Easton, MD. She attended Easton High School where she was a 3 sport, year round, athlete graduating in 2018. At Easton High, Lexi was a two-year captain of the field hockey and lacrosse teams and twice earned all star and team MVP honors in both sports. While in middle and high school, she played club lacrosse for Maryland United Lacrosse Club. After high school, she attended Campbell University in North Carolina where she played division 1 lacrosse for four years. Lexi was a head club coach for 5 years with Dark Horse lacrosse club and an assistant coach for the M&D Shore 2027 Black Team. She enjoys spreading her love for the game of lacrosse across Maryland’s eastern shore. Lexi has experience on both the offensive and defensive ends of the field.

Sailing - Spring

Softball
Head Coach: Kathy George
Coach George is form Pasadena, MD, residing in Easton, MD for over 23 years.
Coach is entering her 2nd year as head coach of our softball team and has 17 years of softball coaching experience at youth, high school, and national levels. She has coached Talbot County Homerun Baker League and Talbot All-Star teams. She also is a six-year coach at the All-American Games (Ocean City, MD), earning 3 national championships. Coach George specializes in pitching development, team leadership, and competitive preparation.
Her coaching approach shaped by over 50 years of fastpitch experience—including collegiate play, AAA-level pitching for Baltimore’s Johnnie’s Jets, and 35+ years of competitive coed softball.
Coach George has over 35 years of experience in law enforcement. Her personal interests include softball, weight training, rescuing Siberian Huskies, cheering for the Baltimore Ravens, motorcycle riding, and relaxing on the beach.
Assistant Coach: Erika George
Erika George is a skilled softball player and coach with an extended background in the sport. She played fast-pitch travel softball from ages 10 to 17 and was selected to play in the All-American Tournament at age 16. As a coach, Erika served as the assistant varsity coach at Saints Peter and Paul High School for a season and helped lead the All-American Youth Softball Tournament for four years, securing three championship titles. Now living in Easton, Erika is pursuing a career as an EMT while continuing to inspire others through her love of softball.
Men's Tennis

John was raised in North Carolina and began playing tennis at the age of 7. He is fortunate to be coached by the legendary Wake Forest tennis coach, Jim Leighton, and spent his junior years competing in USTA tournaments across the South. John was a part of the ’76 R.J. Reynolds High School tennis team, where they proudly won the North Carolina State 4-A Tennis Championship! More recently, Coach has had the pleasure of coaching at Saints Peter and Paul for the past three years. Coach Perkinson won the 2025 “Coach of the Year” award for the MIAA Conference.
Assistant Coach: Karen Brojous
Karen is a former parent of four SSPP students, class of ’07, ’08, ’11, and ’15 who loves the game of tennis and has been playing most of her life. She started playing in the USTA after having children, as well as at the Y many years ago.

Alex started Saints Peter and Paul’s first Cross Country club in 2009 and because of its popularity, became a varsity team the following year. Since 2010, Alex has enjoyed being the head coach and witnessing so many of his runners excel in personal victories and the amazing growth of his teams. SSPP’s XC team has enjoyed several MIAA all conference runners and came in 3rd place at the MIAA championship meet in 2014. Alex continues to teach Theology at Saints Peter and Paul and lives in Cordova with his wife and six children.
